So you may want to update, if you use these tools.
I’ve learned that two friends have passed away this week.
Paul Deese (Personal Friend, Small Cell Lung Cancer)
Paul Hewitt (Nortel Networks peer)
Took my daughter to the Airborne and Special Operations Musem in Fayetteville.
We went through the main exhibit hall, and then got passes to the Theater and Motion Simulator venues.
I was surprised at how she actually seemed, to be interested in some of the exhibits (being only 5 yrs old) — some of the audio scared her (gun shots, and explosions).
She even sat through the theatre without much fuss, and actually asked questions.
The motion simulator was by far the best venue. You sit in seats in which you are buckled in , as you go through various activites that ASOF members do (riding motorcycle, jumping from an airplane, flying in a helicopter, and even skiing).
As we were leaving the motion simulator, one of the other persons on it mentioned they were going to have “horses” outside. I had no clue what they were talking about. It turns out, the Budwiser Clydesdales (Clydesdale Stables) were outside and being hitched up for a display. What a lucky chance!
So, I took a bunch of pictures with my PDA as I was not carrying my normal digital camera — as this was an unexpected event.
My daughter had never seen the Clydesdale horses before, so it was a great event!
We returned to the musem after the horses, to visit the gift shop and make another run through the main exhibit hall. My daughter picked up a pink flashlight keyring and a pink toy airplane.
It seems I get most excited about geocaching, when the weather is cold. The weatherman expected sleet or snow, as I head out for what I thought would be a simple one hour cache.
I don’t have any good detailed maps of trails and parks, so I initally thought this one was in Clark Park. It turns out it is on the Cape Fear River Trail. This is a bike trail that is actually 4.0 miles in length. There are signs in Clark Park, so I wasn’t that far off — just added an extra 1-1.5 miles to the walk to get to the path.
The trail is wonderful, I look forward to going back just to walk further and see more of the sites.
You can see pictures I took along my adventure.

Once I finally found the cache, it started sleeting. Kinda ironic, as I took the “Sonic Skier” travel bug — who’s goal is to find Snow and/or Snow bunnies!
Buy time I got about half way back the sleet changed, to rain but lucky for me it was just lite and now poring down.
Saw a number of walkers and cyclists on the path. A couple of dogs, one without a leash and another with a leash. Lucky for me the dog, without a leash listed to it’s owner.
This was a challenging cache, and my first travel bug find. So I look foward to moving “Sonic Skier” on it’s way to the snowier grounds North West of Fayetteville.
I probably spend about 3 hours on this cache, approx 2.5 hours walking the paths. I’m not the most fit person; but I managed it all without stopping completely — so it was a run time. Although, the muscles ached for a few days
I think round trip I made close to 6-7 miles.
