Mattel Electronic Basketball, Baseball, and Football
I wore out an electronic football and basketball game in my youth.
I’ve not purchased from this site, but am debating. Would be fun to have one of these — just to show people, what electronic games use to be like!
Kinda funny that I enjoyed electronic football and basketball. I don’t play either sport, and am not a big fan of watching either on TV. Oh well, I guess I will always be a geek at heart.
Visited the wordpress site, and learned that 1.2.2 was available.
The fun of keeping up with the latest patched version of software.
Was pretty straight forward
They have excellent directions on their wiki.
Looks as if this update was made December 15th.
Well, called in to make an appointment today (12/28/2004) — and got one for January 10th.
Glad I’m not really sick. Just need to have a blood test done, and discuss a couple of my prescriptions.
My assigned doctor, moved on, he was a studying resident; so now I have a new assigned doctor. I asked if I could see the doctor my wife sees, and was told NOPE. She is not seeing new patients. That’s nice. Guess I don’t have any say or control at my doctor office.
I guess I miss, the personal touch I received from a medical doctor in Clayton, NC. He had a small pratice which was always busy, but when you needed him — he could always fit you in. I think thanks to the health insurance companies, and lawsuits this type of doctor has become a thing of the past.
If anybody knows of a doctor in the Fayetteville, NC area. Drop me a line. Luckly, I can choose from a variety — so if I continue to get the cold shoulder — or red-tape treatment, I may move on.
Well, we finally made it out of the house on Monday. Sunday we were iced in, and enough melted on Monday to allow us some freedom to go out for a bit.
My daughter received a leapster for Christmas. It seems to be one of her favorite toys now. We didn’t buy any additional cartridges because we were not sure how it would be received.
We went to target first, and found all of the cartridges were selling for the retail $25 price. So we drover over to Toys R US, because we knew one was $19.99 there. We decided to get two for my daughter, and when we purchased them found out all the leapster cartidges were 25% off — so with the savings, we decided to purchase a 3rd one. So now my daughter has plenty of entertain ment with:
Play with Leap - Default Cartridge
Disney Princess - Enchanted Learning
Finding Nemo
SpongeBob
We did buy a bunch for her new leappad, which has kinda taken a back seat
But I’m sure in time, it will be used just as her “My First LeapPad” was.
Found an online scanner, cool stuff — with the snow and ice we have received may be interesting to monitor.
Well, I’m trying to get back on echolink. The first time I tried it, I didn’t have a lot of interest since there was no local activity. I was validated and setup a password, but have since forgotten it and had reformatted my machine.
Now, I’ve reinstalled it and it may be a while before I can be validated for good reason. They require authentication — to try and identify that the person requesting a password is who they are.
The process involves using a digital certificate or a copy of your official license.
I’m in the process of trying to obtain both for them. My poor license that I carried in my wallet, has seen better days and is a bit tattered. So I requested a duplicate license from the FCC today.
For a digital certificate, hams can use ARRL’s lotw (Logbook of the World) which uses tQSL.
Hopefully, I will get back on echolink in the next month and can learn how to monitor, and use the local repeater that is on this network.

My daughter slept in a bit this Christmas. She did not crawl out of bed until about 9:30. Guess I don’t remember ever sleeping late on Christmas
, I was always an early riser on that day.
She was surprised with some gifts under her Pink Barbie tree in her bedroom. She ran in to show mom and dad. Then she got to dig into the big pile under the tree in the living room.
She must have been awfully good, because she had presents from Santa at her house and meme’s and papa’s too!
The favorites seem to be the “leapster” which she has played for hours, and a my-life-size Swan Lake Barbie. But trust me, that is just the tip of the iceberg of what she got! This kid will be playing until next Christmas.
She also received a leappad, as she was starting to out grow her “My First Leappad”. So she has a number of cartridges, and a carrying case for it.
We will probably, start shopping for some cartridges for the leapster. As she has played all the games on the cartridge that came with the unit.
At meme’s she received her largest gift, a Prince and the Papuer musical doll house with the dolls as well. My wife spent two hours putting this one together Christmas evenng.
This year, I ended up with some nice clothes for work/church, and a paper shreder to take care of all those old receipts that I collect.
The gifts are greatly appreciated, but I’ve come of age now that I enjoy giving (i.e. to my daughter and others) than receiving.
The day included an awesome meal at my in-laws, I was so full I could not even eat any of the annual coconut cake! I had to take some home to eat later.
We didn’t have a White Christmas either, but the weather folks are claiming we are going to get some winter weather tonight (Christmas night, or into the following morning). Will see, my daughter would love to see some white stuff. Maybe one year, I can take her to Boone or other town in the mountains to see real snow around Christmas.
May everyone have a blessed and happy Christmas Day.
What a week of upgrades. php exploits and phpBB exploit seemed to require a number of upgrades.
Since PHP 4.3.10 is the latest version, I thought I would upgrade apache while I was at it to the current stable version 1.3.33.
This turned out to be more a chore than I expected; evidently there are some changes which broke my site — until I recreated my httpd.conf from scratch and reimported settings from an older config file.
It looks as if everything is back to normal; maybe over the holiday I will add the phpBB mods that I installed before upgrading phpBB to 2.0.11
My daughter and I attended the Christmas program, Night of Alleluias! at our church.
The parking lot was jammed pack, and we arrived right at 6:00 p.m. the time the program was suppose to start. So, we ended up setting at the very back with some church members we knew.
The program was great, as they had folks act out the birth of Christ (with a real baby for baby Jesus), and the coming of the Kings. The music was great — I know a lot of the choir was nervous but they did a wonderful job.
It was great to see a presentation of what Christmas is really about.
My daughter performed in a Christmas program at her elementary school. Each class performed one song, and then all the kindergarten students sang 3 songs together.
It was quite entertaining.
The program started with some of the older students performing with violins, which got a little old. They said they would perform 6 short songs; and it seemed like 20
But they did pretty well, I’m glad they had the chance to perform like the kindergarterners.
