My wife had to under go planned surgery on Wednesday, November 17th. The surgery was due to the following complications, and had been moved up due to the holidays and the pain and suffering being caused by the swelling of the gland.
A bad salivary gland and a deviated-septum
There were no complications in surgery, but the surgery took two and a half hours so it was a bit nerve racking, waiting for the doctor to come out, and let us know how things were going. Then we had another extended wait while they monitored and prepared her and the room in which she stayed in over night.
The Friday following the surgery, a drain tube was removed from her neck and splints from her nose. This of course brought on more pain, but there was no indication of problems — everything is healing well, etc.
The only outstanding issues are weakness/fatigue and sorness from the surgery, and sorness from the breathing tube that was used. If that continues another doctor appointment may be needed next week.
